Qatar Amends School Law to Include Kindergarten Classes for Children Aged Three and Up

The Official Gazette of the State of Qatar, in its issue No. (14), announced the issuance of Law No. (10) of 2024, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani approved. This law amends specific provisions of Law No. (9) of 2017 related to the regulation of schools.

Article (2) of the new law permits the establishment of kindergarten classes, accepting children from the age of three.

Article (6) of the previous law has been replaced with the following: “The Ministry may establish kindergarten classes prior to the primary stage, accepting children from the age of three, in accordance with regulations to be issued by the Minister.”

This amendment aims to improve the quality of early education and enhance children’s ability to integrate into the educational system, contributing to the development of their social and academic skills from an early age.

Article (3) also mandates that all relevant authorities enforce the provisions of this law from the date of issuance. This amendment is expected to open new horizons for education in Qatar by allowing children to begin their educational journey early, helping them achieve future academic success.
