The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau announced a reduction in daily working hours for people with disabilities. They are allowed to arrive half an hour after official working hours and leave half an hour before the end of working hours, according to Article 73 of the Executive Regulations of the Human Resources Law No. 15 of 2016.
This article also states that a Qatari female employee may be granted fully paid leave to care for her children with disabilities or illnesses requiring the mother’s presence, based on a report from the competent medical authority, for a maximum period of five years with the president’s approval, and with the Prime Minister’s approval if the period exceeds that. Additionally, leave may be granted to the female employee in other cases according to the conditions and regulations issued by the Council of Ministers General Secretariat.
The Civil Service Bureau significantly facilitates the employment of people with special needs in both the government and private sectors. It coordinates with government agencies to identify and monitor suitable job opportunities for job seekers. These efforts are carried out through continuous updates on the national employment platform “Kawader,” adding job opportunities for job seekers of various educational levels and work experiences.
The Civil Service Bureau emphasized that employing people with special needs in government agencies stems from its commitment to providing equal job opportunities for all segments of Qatari society. This is based on Article (14) of the Civil Human Resources Law, which obliges government agencies to provide jobs for people with disabilities in accordance with the provisions of Law No. (2) of 2004 concerning people with special needs, providing them with the necessary means to perform their job duties and equipping their workplaces to suit their needs.
The Bureau reaffirmed its ongoing support for the right of individuals with autism to obtain equal opportunities with other members of society and facilitate their employment procedures in the government sector, contributing to Qatar’s third national development strategy and enhancing support for priority groups and people with disabilities to ensure inclusivity for all segments of society.
