Qatar International Court Launches Legal Clinic Program

The Qatar International Court has announced the launch of the Legal Clinic Program, which aims to provide legal assistance to individuals who face difficulties affording legal action costs. This program is part of the court’s efforts to promote justice and ensure legal services are accessible to all members of society.

The program offers legal advice, where a licensed lawyer provides legal opinions on cases presented to them. It is a valuable service for small investors and traders who require legal advice on commercial disputes without incurring additional financial burdens. It also helps reduce the number of cases brought to court, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the country’s judicial system.

As part of implementing this initiative, the Qatar International Court has collaborated with several local law firms willing to offer their services to those in need. This partnership reflects the legal community’s commitment to unifying efforts to develop the country’s legal framework. The terms and conditions define the general framework of the relationship between the service beneficiaries and the law firms while adhering to all court rulings.

Beneficiaries of the Legal Clinic Program can receive legal consultation from one of the registered law firms, with the advice limited to civil and commercial disputes. The clinic acts as a liaison between law firms and eligible individuals, helping them understand the nature of conflicts early and accelerating dispute resolution.

Comments from the CEO of the Qatar International Court, Faisal bin Rashid Al-Sahouti

In his comments on the program’s launch, Faisal bin Rashid Al-Sahouti, CEO of the Qatar International Court, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative, stating to the Qatar News Agency: “The Legal Clinic of the Qatar International Court represents a valuable opportunity for lawyers who seek to provide volunteer services to their community, especially for those with limited financial resources, contributing to ensuring access to justice for all.”

The Qatar News Agency reported that the launch of the Legal Clinic Program initiative is part of the court’s ongoing efforts to develop the legal environment and ensure access to justice for all. This is achieved by providing the necessary legal channels, and the program aligns with the court’s legal framework for resolving civil and commercial disputes. The agency also noted that the Qatar International Court was established to enhance the trust of licensed global financial companies by providing justice in resolving disputes through an international judiciary specialized in investment and commercial disputes.

The agency added that the court is a critical element of Qatar’s vision to attract foreign investments and capital, contributing to diversifying the national economy. The court provides judicial services that adhere to international standards, enhancing the business environment and helping resolve disputes efficiently and effectively in a short period.

Notably, the Qatar International Court was officially established by Cabinet Decision No. 17 of 2012, in accordance with Law No. 7 of 2005 and its amendments, as part of the Qatar Financial Centre framework.

The court aims to build trust among global financial companies licensed in Qatar by ensuring effective justice in resolving disputes through an international judiciary specialized in investment and commercial conflicts.

The court is a crucial component in the state’s vision to attract foreign investments and capital, contributing to economic diversification. It offers judicial services in line with the highest international standards.
