The Qatar Ministry of Interior has announced that the old version of the “Metrash” app will be discontinued starting March 1, 2025, urging users to download the new version to ensure continued access to expanded e-services.
This update is part of the ministry’s strategy to enhance digital transformation and improve user experience through an app with a modern interface and advanced tools, facilitating access to over 440 e-services.
The new “Metrash” app boasts an interactive, modern design that allows users to complete their transactions quickly and easily. Processes have been re-engineered, and some services have been merged to reduce the required steps.
Additionally, the ministry has introduced over 100 new services, including personal file management, authorization services, security inquiries, and address services, contributing to a more integrated user experience.
Furthermore, payment options have been updated to include modern methods, such as “Apple Pay,” alongside the integration of artificial intelligence technologies to ensure more efficient and accurate request processing.
The app offers several key services, including personal authorization, which allows users to grant someone else permission to complete transactions on their behalf, as well as family authorization, enabling access to the app using a phone number registered under the authorized person’s name.
Users can also manage their files and track the status of their requests. The app provides features such as certificate issuance and reprinting and specialized services for GCC citizens, including renewing Qatari ID cards and issuing replacement documents.
In an official statement, Brigadier Jassim Al-Buhaushim Al-Sayed, Director General of Communications and Information Systems at the Ministry of Interior, affirmed that the new app offers high security and privacy. He also noted that the ministry is developing a new version that will bring a transformative shift in digital services in the coming months.
Brigadier Al-Sayed further explained in a video published by the Ministry of Interior on its digital platforms that the app reflects its commitment to delivering modern technological solutions that meet user expectations.
On December 17, the Ministry of Interior officially announced the launch of the updated app on both the “App Store” and “Google Play,” making it available to users ahead of the discontinuation of the old version.
Additionally, on November 28, the ministry won the award for Best Arab Smart Government App in the Arab Government Excellence Awards, which is organized under the patronage of the League of Arab States. This achievement reflects regional and international recognition of the ministry’s leadership in digital transformation.
The “Metrash” app first embarked on its digital journey in 2012 with the launch of the initial version. In 2017, “Metrash 2” was introduced with an extensive range of new features, significantly advancing government digital services.
Over the years, the app has undergone substantial development, surpassing two million users who benefit from its comprehensive services available via the app and the ministry’s website, in addition to integration with various government and private sector entities.
Before the old version is discontinued, users can download the new “Metrash” app by searching for “Metrash” on the App Store or Google Play or by visiting the official website of the Qatar Ministry of Interior.
This update represents a new milestone in Qatar’s digital transformation journey, showcasing the ministry’s commitment to providing an advanced electronic environment that enables citizens and residents to complete their transactions efficiently and securely.
With continuous innovation, the app is expected to become a global benchmark in delivering digital government services.
