The Supreme Judiciary Council of Qatar has released a report on the indicators of litigation duration in Qatari courts between 2019 and 2024, showing an improvement in the speed of case resolution.
The report highlighted that cases taking more than two years have been eliminated in 2024, after accounting for 3.7% in 2020 and 0.1% in 2022. Additionally, the number of cases resolved in less than three months in 2024 reached 119,446 out of 128,306 cases.
Statistical data indicates that the percentage of cases resolved within less than three months has significantly increased over the past few years, rising from 46% in 2020 to 60% in 2021, 74.4% in 2022, and reaching 93% in 2024.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years, the Qatari judicial system managed to reduce the number of cases exceeding two years to zero by 2024.
The improvement in litigation duration is attributed to a series of initiatives launched by the Supreme Judiciary Council. The most notable is the increased specialized judicial circuits, which have accelerated legal proceedings across various case types.
Additionally, digitising the judicial system has facilitated the electronic submission of lawsuits and reduced the paperwork burden. The integration of artificial intelligence technologies has further enhanced the speed of case resolution and improved the accuracy of judicial data analysis.
These measures are part of an ambitious plan to strengthen future judicial achievements as the Supreme Judiciary Council continues its efforts to ensure swift justice and uphold the rule of law.
