During its regular meeting, chaired by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Qatari Cabinet approved amendments to the fees for certain services provided by the Ministry of Justice.
The amendments included changes to the fees for some legal services, including the exemption of documentation fees for first-time transactions related to the establishment of businesses and companies. The aim is to streamline procedures and support the business environment in Qatar. Additionally, some fees were reduced for persons with disabilities and elderly individuals over sixty.
The new amendments are part of a broader plan to facilitate company establishment, encourage local and foreign investment, and improve the quality of legal services provided by the Ministry of Justice.
These changes update the fee schedule that was approved in 2018, which included charges for documentation and real estate registration services. At that time, the fee for issuing a general power of attorney was QAR 500, while the fee for a special power of attorney related to real estate was QAR 300.
The 2018 fee list also included QAR 500 for certifying a company’s articles of incorporation and QAR 200 for issuing a title deed. Real estate registration services were priced at QAR 100 for issuing a property registration plan and QAR 100 for certifying a copy of a title deed.
In terms of real estate sales or transfer of ownership, fees were calculated at 0.25% of the property’s value. Fees for gifts or wills to first-degree relatives were set at QAR 500, and fees for inheritance-based ownership transfers were set at 0.05% of the property’s value.
The new decision aims to accelerate the legal procedures related to company formation and enhance Qatar’s ability to attract investment.
